The first iwi organisation to join Moananui is deeply committed to shaping the future of New Zealand’s blue economy. Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua has active interests in fisheries, aquaculture, science and research, and workforce development. Their participation in Moananui strengthens sector connections, opens new opportunities, and provides access to specialist skills and knowledge.
Through their Tokomaru Research Centre and working with fellow cluster members such as the Cawthron Institute, Ngāti Rārua is advancing research and innovation. Ngāti Rārua CEO Shane Graham emphasises the importance of building long-term relationships and powerful partnerships.
